Fees
A $2 per vehicle day use fee is collected at the honor boxes in the parking area.
Main Picnic Area
DeSoto State Park's main picnic area is comprised of one stone CCC Pavilion, two small pavilions, a volleyball court, a small ball field, a playground, and an outdoor classroom. Picnic tables (including a handicapped-accessible picnic table) and grills are located throughout the area, making it perfect for birthday parties, reunions, socials, company picnics, events, and cook-outs.
Located just across the road from DeSoto's Country Store & Information Center, the picnic area is a short distance from our trail system, the West Fork of Little River, Indian Falls, the Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail, DeSoto’s Olympic-size pool, and the Screaming Eagle Aerial Adventure zipline. Please check in at DeSoto's Country Store & Information Center upon arrival.

There is limited electricity in the picnic area.
Restrooms are located in the stone CCC Pavilion.
Please note this is a limited parking area with no parking for larger vehicles such as RVs, trailers, etc.
Cell service may be spotty throughout the park, and Wi-Fi does not reach the picnic area.

Picnic Shelter 1
Our gorgeous rock shelter, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, includes two stone fireplaces. At the ends of the shelter, public restrooms and an easily accessible handicap restroom are available. This shelter can hold up to 100 people and has electrical plugs for power.

The picnic area closes at sundown.
For large events, please email the country store to let us know.
Be sure to look out the back of the shelter while you are there so that you may see our trails, which lead down to the part of Little River that runs through the park.
Picnic Shelter 2
Picnic Shelter 2 has two picnic tables and one grill and can accommodate up to 25 people. A playground and volleyball court are nearby. Trees surround Shelter 2, making it an excellent place for a picnic or a small family get-together. The picnic area closes at sundown.
Picnic Shelter 3
Picnic Shelter 3 has two picnic tables and one grill and can accommodate up to 25 people. Shelter 3 is next to the playground and volleyball court. The picnic area closes at sundown.
DESOTO FALLS PICNIC AREA
This section of DeSoto State Park is located 7 miles from the main park area near Mentone, Alabama. Please note that this area has limited parking and often fills to capacity on weekends. For more information, click here.
